Brendan M. Anderson, visiting assistant professor of geosciences, published the article "Employment in paleontology: status and trends in the United States" in Paleobiology. Francis Wilkin, senior lecturer in physics and astronomy, has co-authored two papers on the subject of exoplanets as part of the TESS Follow-up Program using data from the Las Cumbres Observatory. From the gravitational tug on another planet known to transit its host star, Barkaoui et al. have discovered an unseen planet. The paper is entitled "TOI-2015 b: A sub-Neptune in strong gravitational interaction with an outer non-transiting planet" and appeared in Astronomy & Astrophysics. The second paper, "The Eccentricity Distribution of Warm Sub-Saturns in TESS," with Fairnington et al., has been accepted to the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. This work describes what is known about the shapes of orbits of planets somewhat smaller than Saturn.
Last week, Union College faculty and staff recently participated in a walk/run as part of a CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge event.
